An “A Grade“ recycled brick is generally used for paving and will have four good corners from a “top’ face.
When paving you are placing the brick face down on the ground.
This is called a bricks “top face“.
Think of a paved driveway and looking down at the brick on the footpath on the brick when looking at the brick ‘side on’.

A “B Grade“ bricks are used to build retaining walls, garden edging, bbq’s etc.
You will have 4 good corners from a “side face“.
When building you are placing the bricks on top of each other seeing the bricks “side face’, this is called the bricks “side face”.

Face bricks are selected for their consistent appearance and finish, while commons are typically used for structural or hidden work.
